There are memories that come back not through images, but through scents.
As a child, honeysuckle would intoxicate me. I remember its delicate little flowers, their sweet, enveloping fragrance, and that almost inexplicable feeling they stirred within me. Something simple, deeply joyful—something that belonged to childhood and seemed, at the time, as though it could last forever.
Years later, I wanted to preserve a trace of it.
Honeysuckle, however, is a difficult plant to capture in cyanotype. Its flowers, so fragile, wilt very quickly. You have to prepare them with care, work almost with a sense of urgency, accept their transformation, and work around their delicacy. The process then becomes a way to hold onto what would otherwise disappear.
Perhaps that is where the full symbolism of this work lies.
Honeysuckle evokes attachment, enduring bonds, and memory. Its climbing, tangled nature echoes those memories to which we remain attached, sometimes without even realizing it. Simple memories, seemingly almost insignificant, but which, over time, become true inner treasures.
