Cast-iron teapot cozy — Cyanotype on linen *"Libre de déplaire" by Adler

"Free to Displease" by Adler

A cozy tea nook—like a little invitation to just be yourself.

This design bears the delicate imprint of wildflowers harvested at an altitude of 1,200 meters, in the heart of the Vaud Jura. Each piece is unique and leaves room for the unexpected—the interplay between material, light, and craftsmanship.

Place it on your teapot to keep it warm, but also as a subtle reminder at the heart of your ritual: you don’t have to please everyone to feel at home.

“Free to Displease” evokes this precious freedom: the freedom to stop trying to live up to others’ expectations, to follow one’s own path, and to simply be oneself.

This collection was born out of personal reflection inspired by reading “The Courage to Be Disliked” by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. This book, a true bestseller in Asia, inspired me to question how others see us, the quest for approval, and the freedom to forge one’s own path.
I wanted to translate these reflections into simple, everyday objects, where plants become a metaphor for our own way of being in the world.

PLANTS, THE SUN, AND CYANOTYPE.

Each piece begins with the selection of a plant, whose shape is imprinted onto the fabric by the action of light. Using the cyanotype technique, its imprint then appears in various shades, creating an image that is at once delicate, organic, and unpredictable.
The artist’s touch, light, and the material all come together in the creative process. Variations in placement, light intensity, and texture make each print a unique piece.

The tea cozy is crafted from natural linen, chosen for its lively texture and authentic character. Its irregularities and soft feel lend the piece a natural and warm sensation.

More than just an accessory, this cozy accompanies a moment of stillness over tea: an invitation to slow down, to be present, and, perhaps, to remember that you can follow your own path without trying to please everyone.

A handcrafted piece designed to be useful, poetic, and meaningful.
